?I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now
Adventure seeker on an empty street
Just an alley creeper light on his feet
A young fighter screaming with no time for doubt
With the pain and anger can't see a way out
It ain't much I'm asking I heard him say
Gotta find me a future move out of my way
I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now
I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now?

TinyPortal, the software forum where I?m on the support staff, one of my friends, JPDeni, posted a topic about people with
Entitlement Issues.
The basic plot line was this:
George R. R. Martin is a fantasy author who is in the midst of a series of books. He had given a date when the next book in the series would be available and that date has passed. A group of his vocal fans are rather annoyed about the fact that they've seen him (gasp!) attending conventions and possibly even writing some other things when he ought to be writing the book they want to read, damn it!
One of Martins readers had posted a comment to the blog of another writer, Neil Gaiman, complaining about the fact that Martin had not finished the book on time while at the same time he was going to conventions and doing other writings? to which Gaiman responded in part:
? People are not machines. Writers and artists aren't machines.
You're complaining about George doing other things than writing the books you want to read as if your buying the first book in the series was a contract with him: that you would pay over your ten dollars, and George for his part would spend every waking hour until the series was done, writing the rest of the books for you.
No such contract existed. You were paying your ten dollars for the book you were reading, and I assume that you enjoyed it because you want to know what happens next?.

All of this prompted me to say:
"
I want mine.
I want mine... Yesterday!
It IS mine.
Or, how about this... Too much is NOT enough!
We as individuals and we as a people sometimes just need to get over ourselves.
We as a 'person' are not the center of the universe.
Except for me of course". :wink2:

TinyPortal our chief software designer/writer ?Bloc? (Bjoern Kristiansen) puts a lot of work into writing code for each new public release and those releases are made about 3-4 times a year. And of course the rest of us put in lots of time doing support for the software and some of our staff also write a lot of code for the extras that go into the software.
But even with this constant attention to members questions and ongoing work for the software we still get some who want to know when the next version will be available and then they get angry when we don?t give them a date certain. We don?t give dates because this is all done on free time and and real life stuff must always come first. It is also given away freely for no charge which many of them fail to comprehend, seeming to think that although it?s free we are still obligated to give it to them NOW!
The fact is that lots of the people in today's world seem think that they are entitled and that the rest of the world owes them instant attention and instant results when satisfying the needs of those ?needy? persons.
Some of us really do need to get a grip and ?get over ourselves?.
Except for me of course. :wink2:
