TinyPortal Site Set to Close.
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:52:07 AM »
For some time now there has been a possibility that the TinyPortal development would come to an end... today Bloc made the official announcement.

http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=32798.0
After some 4-5 years with http://www.tinyportal.net as the main support site for the TinyPortal mod, I have decided to close this site down. This is due to several reasons, but limited time for myself to work on TP is a major factor. There are also now so many "portals" for SMF that I personally don't see that big a need/potential for it anymore.

My SMF themes will still be maintained at http://www.blocweb.net but all TP related support will be done on SMF mod site in the future. The closing-up will not happen right away, I will address the many bugs present in TP v1.0 beta5 first and then release beta5.2/RC1 on the SMF mod site - after that tp.net will be closed.

We will still run the TinyPortal software here on the FamilyForum and I'll still work on the TinyPortal support forums for some time into the future, but this is a sad day for all who use TP because at some point it will fade from usefulness.

I haven't been around much lately...too busy working. :P But I'm not surprised. Things were not just coming together. I am very sad though. TP was the best! :(

The TinyPortal site has closed.
Here's a quote of the message page that Bloc has posted there for now:
Quote
Site is closed.

Tinyportal.net is now closed and all support will have to happen on the SMF modsite in the future.

Several of the TP team members have decided to still maintain a site for TP users specifically, that site is located at http://www.tinyportal.co.uk and there have been transferred many of the topics from this site. No members were transferred, meaning you have to register new on that site again.

It was done to make a clean break between both sites, but not loose the many support and help topics already made during the years this site have been up.

Its with sadness I do this, but also from a necessity to move on.

    * TinyPortal at SMF modsite: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=97
    * new TP support site: http://www.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php

Note that support for my themes will still be at Blocweb.net

We will still continue to use the TP software package here on the FamilyForum for the foreseeable future of course.  :bigthumb:
