Kitchen Aid Food Grinder Attachment
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:49:16 AM »
Got this last weekend. It's an attachment for a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer that grinds meat (for burgers, sausages, etc.) fruit, veggies, nuts, and can also make bread crumbs. So far, I've only ground up some chuck roast and sirloin roart for burgers. The chuck is for tenderness and the sirloin is for flavor. ;)

Still have to make the burgers. I've ground them and am freezing them into patties for easy cooking later. ;)

When Kay bought her's it came with an attachment that can be used like that... not a grinder exactly but it will work as one.

Doesn't anybody use the good old fashioned meat grinders anymore???? hehehehehe, jk. I have a couple of the old fashioned ones the ones you clamp to the side of a counter or table. My mom's and my grandma's. I remember my mom would make all sorts of homemade sausages when I was child, but it hasn't been used in years. I usually think someday I will grind some meat, but it is just so much easier to buy it already ground. I don't have to clean up the grinder either. I remember taking the thing apart and having to clean it spotless. The homemade sausages were wonderful. Maybe someday.

I was actually looking at those as well as electric ones. Took me almost 6 months before deciding on one. The KA one is easy to clean, works with little effort (the mixer grinds and spits it out), and easy setup.

I'll make some sausages, of course. I do have a few recipes for that. However, I probably won't make the links and stuff casings. :P Just patties, etc.
