SMF Caching Issues
« on: April 09, 2011, 06:22:53 AM »
This does not happen on this site and is for reference only!

On some sites (used to happen at the old TP site for awhile), when a user logs in the see a blank screen with an image as you can see in the image below. As you can see from the url in the image it seems to be trying to attach the image to a particular topic. The problem is that when you first login you are not viewing any particular topic. I believe that it is trying to attach it to your last viewed topic when you were last logged in, perhaps.

Anyways, this can be fixed as follows. Set smf caching to none  and save it to file (if your hosting does not allow for it) or make sure it is otherwise properly set. The same goes for acceleration.

Some change this to a setting that is incorrect thinking it will make positive effects on the site when the opposite is true. This also depends on your server settings. Thanks to Underdog for solving this. :)

Thanks for the update Steve.  :bigthumb:
Glad we don't suffer from that issue.

I've seen it across many sites but to date no one found a solution for it.

I just informed Crip about cause it was happening to me on his site.
