I've probably been with most of the hosting available at one time or another or help someone on hosting I've never used and this is the best I've ever had.

I thought that a fresh set of files should fix it because there would not be any edits to get in the way. Guess I was wrong.

About once every year, I down load the complete site, to  folder of same name, this just an old habit. I have about 4 so, one at a time, if large I let it down load over night via FTP. alone with DB zip, for the smf maintenance controls. noting that the settings.php file is in the download stuff and is not corrupt!

It may not be up[ to date, but sure saves lots of trouble, you also sync the downloaded site as you see fit!

I have used the host back up a few times and it does work well, but you never know with the today's hackers they even kill back ups if they want!

This just a thought for the future and for those whom no not!

Yepp... I broke it again, I'll do a detailed post about it later. It was caused by me deleting ftp accounts.
