On the phone now with Hughes Net support and have just been bumped up the their 'advanced tech' support and I'm waiting on hold for several minutes.  :o

The router is out of the mix now, my laptop is connected directly to the HN modem using cat5.

EDIT:
Now they have bumped me up to the 'Engineering Division' and they will be calling me back within 48 hours!  laughing7

I didn't know you had HughesNet. I started to switch over to them but saw nothing but bad reviews about their service and support. So, I opted not to try it. I remember when they used to charge about $300+ per month years ago!

We live so far out in the country that there's not much to choose from, our phone company offers DSL, but the speeds are not much better than dial up and often times worse.

As for cost, we've always paid $60 per month, but there are plans that go higher.
And, yes, HN really sucks when it comes to support... really, really sucks.

I have Verizon and they don't have FIOS here yet but have been talking about it for many years.  :censored:

The city has been talking about trying to get their own high speed for us.

The sad thing is, Time Warner has cable service that stops about a mile from us, but there are not enough homes for them to run it the rest of the way to us.

Fixed!
The HN Engineering Division was very helpful and the issue was resolved after a few minutes of searching around in my internet settings.
The tech had me uncheck TCP/IPv6 and under TCP/IPv4/Properties check ‘Use the following DNS server address: 8.8.8.8, that cured the problem.

Many thanks for all of the help... Ken.
Ps: the tech gave me a $30 credit to cover my down time.

Have you tried to flush your DNS? I should have thought of this sooner. This is something I do now and again. If you surf a lot you should do it once per month but I only do it when I remember to do it. LOL

Sorry for the delay in getting back... had some RL stuff going on.

Turns out my service provider has some kind of glitch in their servers that is causing NCWW to be blocked to my service.(... this is the only site that is blocked.) In conversations with the ISP's help line the Tech had me uncheck TCP/IPv6 and under TCP/IPv4/Properties check ‘Use the following DNS server address: 8.8.8.8, that cured the problem... or so I thought! Turns out that sometimes it works, sometimes not.

This tip did not offer any relief.
Quote
That's the Google DNS servers, and if you only changed the Preferred DNS server and left your ISP in place for the Alternate DNS server, the computer will sometimes hit the ISP server and you'll get the issue again. I've switched my Preferred DNS to 8.8.8.8 and my Alternate to 8.8.4.4 (another Google DNS Server)

Flushing the DNS cache did not help in connecting up directly.

After more conversations with the help line the ISP is sending out a Tech with a new modem on Tuesday and hopefully that will fix the problem.
***The new modem seems to be the fix.  :hah!:
The NCWW site loads as expected now and everything seems to be OK. This new modem has far greater speed (30-40mbps), but I don't know if that has anything to do with the issue.

Thanks again for all the help in resolving this issue.
