New Computer
« on: December 12, 2007, 09:49:34 AM »
So... my old PC was crashing, hanging up and just would not start!

For several days I had been trying to save it but it finally died and so I gathered up a bunch of used parts and cobbled together an old & slow piece of crap just to have something to surf with.

None of my data or programs are on this one so I'm kind of lost with not even email except for a couple of online accounts but it'll be OK... really it will.    :bigcry:

The one good thing is that my data and files are safe... besides backups and copies of files burned to DVD's I was also able to Ghost my entire HHD to a new drive before the PC completely quit but this clunker being used now is not able to access a SATA drive so getting to the data will have to wait until another PC is purchased.

Ah well, maybe now I can get that bigger monitor me been wanting

Update, a few days later... And that's just what happened!
Finally got back online with a brand new Dell!
Still doing lots of data transfers to the new PC and things are kind of messed up now, but it's getting better. It's going to take me a few days to get it all sorted.

Got a fairly nice one:
Dell Inspiron 530
Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor E4500 (2MB L2 Cache,2.20GHz,800 FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista? Home Premium - English
500GB6 Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache?
2GB5 Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs
19 inch S199WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel Monitor with TrueLife*  :disted:

Also picked up an external HHD enclosure for the hard drive that has all my data from the old PC and thats making it lots easier to do the data recovery.

Life is good.  :bigthumb:

Yeppers, it is great actually!

The new Dell has been running for about a month now and I'm well satisfied with the performance so far. The 19inch monitor is lots better than my old 17inch... my video card will support two monitors and I tried that for a while but went back to just the one because the 19 has plenty of room for my needs.  :bigthumb:
