Topic: New Arcade Chat Box

We've installed a new shoutbox for the Arcade. 
The SMFPacks Shoutbox seems to fit the need and so far works as expected. If you try it and have any issues please be sure to post about what happened.

Using it is very much like using our 'regular' shoutbox on the forum page except that this new one has no 'Shout' or Enter button... after you type in your message you just hit Enter to post.

There are permissions settings required for access to this shoutbox and I think that all of them are set correctly, but if something looks a little off or out of place please let me know.  riteon

Looks great! How'd you add it to the arcade?

EDIT: Doesn't seem like they are willing to give much support unless you pay for help...for a free mod.  :yikes:

Yepp... support may be an issue.

As for adding it to the Arcade:
First, when installing it I remembered to add it to the various themes this time, so it shows in all of our available themes, except for Ganymedes and imPulse2. In Phoenix it works but something is broken in the layout, so that theme may need to be turned off.

For showing, it has an option for "Pages where Shoutbox will be printed" and I placed only the 'arcade' there. The default is for 'boardindex' and 'collapsecategory' and those were removed.

Had to turn off the arcade shoutbox for now because it was causing issues with game saves, at this point I don't know if we'll be able to turn it back on.

That might be a way around the issue, use the TinyPortal Shoutbox in the Arcade and SMFPacks Shoutbox in the forum pages. There is one issue with that placement though, AFAIK at this point the SMFPacks Shoutbox will only display across the top of the page... if it's to be on the forum page I would prefer that it was on the side like our TP sb is now.

I'm still researching the question though.

UnderDog is helping me setup the 'nneonneo' shoutbox to use in the Arcade... he has it working good on his site.

You can test that out for a while to see if you like it.

I set it up to not display during game play where it displays the latest high score instead.
The only thing I noticed is that for most games I had to press the play button to get it to start.
I'm not sure if this block is causing that.
