Smiley Help Needed
« on: August 22, 2010, 12:59:01 AM »
Here's the issue. My forum has been upgraded since SMF 1.0.5, I think. Whenever I do certain things like preview a post with smileys in it I get:

Quote
Method Not Implemented

GET to /smf/index.php not supported.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Yes, I know it is a server error. However, if I install a new forum this does not happen on the new forum. So...I narrowed it down to the smileys. I had a custom set "Skhilled" that was also integrated into the others. There was also a "classic" set that was from smf 1.x something although it never really showed up in the settings. It was in the /Smileys folder. I've never noticed that until last week. New installs do not have the "classic" set.

So... I deleted the classic set and the skhilled set but cannot get the original RC3 set to show. It still would show the skhilled set of images. I then deleted the smileys tables and replaced them with the table that should have been there...from a fresh install. But now the smileys will not show up at all.

The only clue to this is if you create or modify a post you will see only words instead of the images. If you add one (no, it will not show) but right click on the missing image it will show a link as:

Quote
"http://skhilled.com/smf/Smileys/skhilled/tongue.gif"

The "skhilled folder should not be there, especially since there is none. I've checked the db and the files and cannot find any instance of the folder. But right-clicking on the missing smileys tells me they are there.  :yikes:

the settings for the smileys can be tricky.. i had issues like this with someone elses forum one time..

I was able to correct it by just creating the folder it wanted to use for the smileys and then put all the smileys the guy was using from all his smiley folders in the one folder (of different named files of course).

Perhaps let me have admin access so I can look at the smiley file/folder settings.

I've actually deleted them and have re-added them all (they still do not show) but one thing that I've found strange is that I can't recall having a "Alienine's" set. It was always named default.

Sending a PM your way.

Since you are basically having to start from scratch with the Smiles have you considered doing a full reload of your SMF files?
If you don't have a lot of Mods then reloading is not a big deal, but even if you do it's not that bad... I've had to do it several times because of all the thrashing around that I do with files and mods.

Done that quite a few times. Also, ran upgrade.php to make sure the db was right. After doing that a few times was when I decided to delete the smileys table and import a fresh one.

The problem is that somewhere there is still a link to my custom smileys and all of them say that link even though it is not valid. Login here: http://skhilled.com/smf I'll change your status to admin so you can see for yourself.

I'm not seeing anything wrong in the settings in the FG ... go to the smiles admin here on the FF to see if you can see anything different.

You won't see anything different. But if you add a smiley to a post it will not show and show as a broken image. Right-click on the image to see the actual url... It is not right.

UM, you have 2 "Aaron" and one "Classic" on a fresh install "classic" is not there and only one "Aaron".

TBH... this is the first time that I have looked at the Smiles cp in a long, long time... and, I always just add my 'custom' smiles to the default folder, so I've never worked with any of the other folders much at all.

Now you have 2 akyhne sets and 2 aaron sets.

EDIT: You might have to clear your cache to see it.

I'm playing a game and baking chicken wings...just in case I don't answer right away. ;)

Something like that happened to me as well. Weird...but hasn't happened since.
