Thanks. I've been getting out on the weekends and taking more pics. That's the only way to learn. I can see what I want and I know what will look good. Getting it to come out that way without using Photoshop is another issue.  :hah:

Your pictures have inspired me to start a 'Featured Photo' series.  :bigteeth:

We currently have the Halloween theme going on but that ends this evening/tonight of course, so after that we'll do a new default theme and maybe it would be nice to run some member pictures as part of the forum layout... just may use one of your forest and stream pics as the first one.  :2thumbs:

Hmmm, great idea!  riteon

I've been looking into trying to join a camera club here. There are only 2 but they have meetings during the week (and at night...I work 3rd shift) and not the weekend!  :yikes: Can't understand why that is but the pics of the members suggest that many of them might be retired and would have the time to do it then. The first link has some awesome photos and some nice tutorials. They also have workshops...for a fee but also during the week.

Hmmm, maybe I should start my own club!

That could work.  :bigthumb:

Some of your local camera shops may be able to help you get one going.

Actually, I've been meeting a lot of photographers with nice equipment during my walks. I think I'll start talking to them more about it. ;)

Great pictures steve :bigthumb:

Thanks, Les. Slowly but surely I'll get better and better. You guys should see the bad ones I took that I didn't post.  :2funny:

Well, I went to the Introduction to Digital Photography Workshop #2 (in a 4 part series...I missed the first one, unforunately :thud:). It was great! It lasted 3 hours and covered the settings of most DSLR's as well as photography in general. Topics included Depth of Focus, Exposure, ISO, White Balance, Metering, and more. It was very educational and I learned a lot!  :2thumbs:

They had members there who came around and would help you with your particular camera's settings/functions. There are differences between cameras but most of the features are the same but may be named differently. Even if you were a first time shooter or a seasoned professional they had something that you could learn.

They also touched a bit on Post Processing (using editors like Photoshop, etc.) They will detail that a bit more in another workshop. I'm pretty good with that but might take the class anyways.

Afterwards, I took the kids to Blue Marsh Lake, armed with my new wealth of photography knowledge and eager to try a few things. I managed to get a few great images that I knew would have caused me problems before the workshop.  riteon

Ijust wish I could be a member and attend meetings but they have them about the time I'm getting ready for work!  :cry2: They do have other things on the weekends so I do plan to attend some of those.

I'll post pics of todays images later.

We had a small family reunion here about 2 years ago.

Some photos I took yesterday at Blue Marsh Lake. First a few of the lake and clouds:

I have no idea what this type of fruit this is but I found it in several places.

Thanks, I've been trying to find out what the heck that fruit is. LOL

The last 4 were taken while we were walking in the lake. It had receded so far back we could walk in it about 20 feet or so all of the way around it.

Took some pics of some swans yesterday. There were in a man-made pond with a fountain in the middle of it. :)

The fountain in the middle of the pond (I might edit this later for color):

EDIT: Tinypic is not working properly atm. Will upload the rest later. :P

Either tinypic or this site is some issues. Whenever I try to upload using tinypic the site slows to a crawl...
