SMF and the Future
« on: November 07, 2010, 12:22:35 PM »
We all know that over the past year or so the SMF Development Team has been in some turmoil, with lots of folks dropping out, some being forced out and some just making a mess of things in general.

One person that I've tried to keep up with as far as their current status is Nao, while he was both in and out of SMF... mainly because he is a very talented coder, but also because he is very outspoken and has no reservations about saying what's on his mind.

So, while visiting his site this topic really got my attention!  :yikes:

Hmm, well, let's get some popcorn and watch the fireworks. ;)

EDIT: Now that I've thought about it... I'm not so this will work. Nao is too hotheaded and will probably ban users just for disagreeing with him or run them away. Sounds like SMF all over again. :undecided2:

It's a shame that some of the most talented coders are sometimes the most arrogant.

LOL!

EDIT: Actually, I'd love to see a fork or 2 in SMF. I just don't think this will workout well, support-wise. The coding would probably be pretty good, though...

That was kind of the way I was looking at the situation... a simpler, cleaner SMF(fork) would be great, but you have to have a full team to keep everything progressing and supported well and at this point it sounds like there are only two of them working on the project.
