My brother, JR 'Ron' Kimbrell is in need of prayers from all of our Family. For the past year and more he has been dealing with bladder cancer as we first started reporting back in July, 2011 as seen in
this Topic. Since that first reporting he has been staying in a nursing/rehab center dealing with feeding tubes, IV's and more surgeries.
This past couple of days he has been in the ICU at
Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center
where they've been treating him for a really bad Sepsis infection along with a high fever (104) and extremely low low blood pressure.
Ron has been receiving two great broad spectrum antibiotics,Zosin and Vancomycin plus blood pressure meds and his progress has been very hopeful... when he arrived at the ICU his condition and prospects were very poor, but his response to the treatments and his progress have been great.
When our Son James (J3) used his lunch break to visit with Ron he found that Ron had recovered to the point where he was awake and able to carry on a conversation, he even cracked a joke or two as Ron has always been prone to do... but, he is still very weak and still has a ways to go in his recovery.
A lot of reporting and commentary can be found on
Kay's FaceBook page... here's some of what has been posted there:

My Brother-in-law,who is 70. has been in and out of the hospital for almost a year now. They rushed him to the ER last night with Sepsis. We just talked to his nurse and he is on a ventilator ,meds to bring his blood pressure back up and two great broad spectrum antibiotics,Zosin and Vancomycin. The nurse said that he was better than last night and that his kidneys are working better.Compared to last night, the nurse said he was better tonight.Everyone who reads this ,please say a prayer for Ron.He is a good guy and needs our prayers now.

Thank you for this update Mom and I was happy to turn the phone over to you so that you and his ICU nurse could "talk shop" and not be the sole filter between you and vital information from her. As I said yesterday night, I will have another update for you today. I plan to visit Uncle Ron right after work. I REALLY appreiciate you keeping family in the loop and Uncle Ron does need everyone's prayers at this critical time......

I just thank God you were there for him.I wish we could be there for him too.I know your Dad is happy that you are going to see him. They are probably keeping him drugged for now. It's for his own good.He needs the ventilator right now and if he continues to improve, they will remove it.We will all pray for him and there is power in prayer.Love you.

Just talked to Mom (Mallie) and learned that she had spoken with Ron?s ICU Nurse this morning and that she had told Mom that the breathing tubes have been removed from Ron?s airway. Kay tells me that this is a very big milestone in Ron?s recovery, so we are very hopeful at this point. Ron has also been removed from some of the sedation he was under and has regained consciousness which is a great sign as well.
Hopefully he will be far enough along in his recovery so that he will be able to speak to James when he visits this evening.

James took his lunch break to do a quick visit with Ron and called to let me know that Ron is awake and alert and in good spirits... this is great news for Ron and all of us, his family!
