Yeah, I agree on the built-in menu manager, it would make it so much easier to deal with.
I think those dropdown links that you have are really neat and will add them to the Coppermine link here. After finally starting to understand the help/how to for adding links that are posted over on SMF maybe I can do a dropdown without killing the forum.
I've used a menu before and though about doing so for this, but was finally able to muddle through the hard code instructions.
I remember when I wanted to add a link to my article index, although I could add the link, and it worked, it always highlighted the home button, instead of the actual page button I was viewing. So gave up. lol.. Never got my head around it tbh. Menu manager takes seconds to achieve the end result.
Yes, the dropdown for the gallery is pretty handy. You'll also note that in Coppermine, the Home button goes to the Portal home page. The forum button goes to the Forum index. And clicking the Gallery logo goes to the gallery home page (index).
There, also a "My Gallery" link at the bottom of the Random / Latest gallery images block on the front page. This should take any logged member directly to there own gallery. That link posed a few problems, so Brad, and bloc helped me sort it out.
BTW, here's the link to the instruction:

Cheers, yep I used that one. What a rigmarole to add a simple link lol.. Even worse when you have to repair your forum, new files etc, then have to do it all over again. Why the team over at SMF think a menu manager is unnecessary is beyond me.
Anyway, bloc seems willing to take it on, which is great imo.
