It's currently 26° which is warm as far as the rest of the week went. We were in the single digits since last weekend!

Yeah, I agree on the built-in menu manager, it would make it so much easier to deal with.

I think those dropdown links that you have are really neat and will add them to the Coppermine link here. After finally starting to understand the help/how to for adding links that are posted over on SMF maybe I can do a dropdown without killing the forum.  :o

I've used a menu before and though about doing so for this, but was finally able to muddle through the hard code instructions.

I remember when I wanted to add a link to my article index, although I could add the link, and it worked, it always highlighted the home button, instead of the actual page button I was viewing.  So gave up.  lol..  Never got my head around it tbh.  Menu manager takes seconds to achieve the end result.

Yes, the dropdown for the gallery is pretty handy.  You'll also note that in Coppermine, the Home button goes to the Portal home page.  The forum button goes to the Forum index.  And clicking the Gallery logo goes to the gallery home page (index).

There, also a "My Gallery" link at the bottom of the Random  / Latest gallery images block on the front page.  This should take any logged member directly to there own gallery. That link posed a few problems, so Brad, and bloc helped me sort it out.

BTW, here's the link to the instruction:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=261880.0

Cheers, yep I used that one.  What a rigmarole to add a simple link lol..  Even worse when you have to repair your forum, new files etc, then have to do it all over again. Why the team over at SMF think a menu manager is unnecessary is beyond me. ;)

Anyway, bloc seems willing to take it on, which is great imo.

Bloc has made some really nice code, both with TP and with some of his themes so like you I'm glad that he is willing to look at stuff like this.

What link manager are you using?

Ken, just a thought.

If you were to find a Coppermine theme with a similar layout to your main theme (outline), you could probably add the header image, and edit the colours to match.  Haven't tried it, and would be a bit of faffing about, but it would make things look a bit more integrated.

I might give that a try myself in Xampp.

I'm not remembering for sure, but it seems like we had it setup like that some years ago... no firm details come to mind, but I'm pretty sure that it was like that at one point.

It's no longer available as a standalone mod Ken, and seriously, I'd be worried about letting anyone use it, because if you forget to un-install it before things like TP or some other mods, it'll kill your site stone dead, and overload your server, lol..  I got told of by my host a while back for using too much resources when I forgot.

Also you can only add one link at a time, if you try to do more than one operation at a time it will kill your site.  So you have to add a link, then visit the SMF admin again, then go to menu manager again to add the next link, and so on.

Ultimate Menu seems to work OK and it supports SMF 2.0.9

I've been playing around with it a little and so far it appears to be solid.

Ken, yes it's almost identical to the one I have, in fact it looks exactly the same in every detail.  I'm now trying to work out why I didn't use it. I know I have tried it in fact I have it installed on one of my local sites already, and it does work well, but it stopped me doing something which I needed.  Going to have to try it again to see what it was.

If it does what you need here though, then I'd say go for it.  It'll be a lot easier than editing files manually, as no doubt you've already discovered. :)

For a fact, that's true.  laughing7

I'm going to go ahead and install it here... the edit that I did to sources/subs.php needs to come out so that the Coppermine link can have a dropdown menu.

Latest comments fixed... thanks for that.

On the error page, all(none) of the cpg permissions were set, so no upload ability was available... funny how that works.  shocked003
Should be OK now.
