Yesterday, I got apiece of London Broil and chopped it up, seasoned it with salt and pepper and put it in a slow cooker with onions, garlic and gravy for about 8 hours. I spooned out the meat and reduced the gravy on the stove. I've made buttered egg noodles with parsley for the meat and gravy to go over.

I'm now making roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and a soy sauce based viniagrette with honey, worcestershire sauce and apple cider vinegar. Should be a pretty good dinner!

I never liked brussels until I roasted them and added something sweet. Braising them on the stove then cooking them until the liquid evaporates is also good. It takes some of the bitterness out of them. They are also good with all kinds of bacons and sausage.

I felt the same way about cauliflower until I roasted them too...

Kay tried the roasting technique recently and we liked them that way. And, anything tastes good-better with Bacon! hehehehehe

With the brussels just cut them in half and roast them cut side down for most of the cooking to brown them well. For the cauliflower, cut them into planks (flats) so they can roast the same way. Then you flip them over half way through baking...for both of them. The cauliflower is great with shaved parmesan cheese! I haven't tried brussels with cheese yet. But the breaising method is really good and you can add any kind of liquid like broth, apple juice/cider, OJ, etc.

Kay did the cauliflower once... she wrapped the whole head of cauliflower in foil after applying lots of olive oil and seasonings and baked it that way. It was good, but we've never tried it again.

Cut it into planks, drizzle it with oil, salt, pepper and shaved parm. Bake it at 400° F until it browns nicely...about 20-30 minutes or so. Flip them half way through. Very good!

French onion soup sounds good.

We had left-over angle hair spaghetti and braised chicken chunks in spaghetti sauce and it was even better the second time around.  laughing7

I made two chicken pot pies. Why? Lealer likes veggies in hers and Brandon doesn't but likes mushrooms. So, instead of making one large one I made two smaller ones.

I did it in stages. I sauteed each of these separately...mushrooms, onions, carrots, chicken and bacon...yes! Bacon! Yum! As I finished sauteing each one I added it to its own baking dish. I did cheat and used jarred chicken gravy. LOL

I cheated again and used store-bought pie crust but only used one crust to top each dish. Each dish came out pretty good!

We had chili and cornbread... yes it's a hot evening, but the chili was spot on anyway.
BTW, I always pour some honey over my cornbread.  laughing7

Pillsbury crescent cheddar cheese rolls.  Get a tube of crescent rolls, unroll, add sliced or grated cheddar cheese (or whatever you like), roll up and bake.  :coolsmiley:
