Our Tiny Portal software is going through some changes as this is being written!

Bloc (Bjoern Kristiansen) has made the decision to move the TP site from his server over onto Mick's server and the turn control of the site and all of the files to Mick. As you may know, Bloc is the founder, the Developer and the primary coder of TP and through the years has written the code and built TP into what it is today... with help from the TP Support Team of course.
And a very significant contribution from IchBin™ as he continued to be one of the leading coders through the years and then as the Developer when Bloc was on hiatus for an extended time.

So, now we must rally around Mick and begin the process of adjusting to this new reality.

So, Mick is now a TP coder or just hosting it? And is Bloc and Brad still helping?

As Mick has stated a number of times, he is not a coder. I think his focus will be on re-energizing the TP Team so that we can hopefully regain some of the fire and drive that helped us build TP into what it was in the 'good old days'.

As for Bloc, he states that his interest in TP  and SMF as well has dropped to the point that he no longer wishes to have any involvement. Hopefully he may, in times to come, agree to remain on in some fashion, perhaps as an adviser or other similar role. 
And with Brad, we may be looking at something along the same line as Bloc, but he has yet to weigh in on current events, so we'll need to wait for that.

We will need coders to help with the core to be sure.
My hope is that we can work through any and all issues and continue to make progress with TP because IMO it is still the best Portal of all those that are available.

Well, then you'll need someone to take the lead coding position and need assistant coders to help or give suggestions. I know you have several coders on the team but are they up to the task of taking it over?

BTW, I do believe Mick will do a good job of getting the team on the same page. Or he may have to get rid of some and get some new ones.

Absolutely bang on there Ken. That's the idea behind it.  Whether it will work I've no idea, but it's not going any further as it is, and like I've said before many times, such a waste, years of work that bloc, Brad, and the team have put into the project. It as to keep going..  As for coding, yep keep me away from that bit, unless you want me to kill it. lol..

Thanks Steve.  I'm still hoping bloc and Brad will continue some sort of coding, but on a more casual basis, rather than having any pressure put on them.  That said, if we can generate some interest from other coders, then I think that will help immensely.  Every bit of this is going to be a steep learning curve for me.  But like I said, we must keep it going, and I've always believed in this project from the day I first used it.

I seriously doubt the if the team needs help coding-wise that Bloc or Brad would hesitate to take a look and try to help. But they probably wouldn't do a lot of coding...although I really can't speak for them. It's just my take on it because of their attitudes and what they've said. I'm pretty sure their hearts are still with TP, it's just they are probably burned out. And I do know how they feel.

So, maybe publicly asking for coders might be a viable option...

Another thought that you might wish to consider as we start getting things sorted out, posting a 'mission statement' style post in the Team boards... maybe be a little bit of a cheerleader.

LOL! Actually, I was just thinking of that as well as a public one...that may be a bit different but for the general public.

If you guys don't have guidelines in the team boards then you'll need some for each membergroup as to what is expected of them as far as conduct and responsibilities.

Through the years we have had each Team member group defined along traditional lines and generally it has worked OK. With that being said, it might be a good thing to review everything about the Team and make any adjustments required.

As far as a 'mission'... it has remained a constant over the years, try to post up the best codes and best support. If we focus on that we'll be OK.

Once per year, or if there are staffing changes, I go over them and see if any changes are needed. This is also true if a site takes a different direction some changes may be necessary.

Basically, you just want your staff and your users know their boundaries as well as the direction the site is heading. And I agree, if you try to do well, you will.
