We Are Changing Servers!
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:34:39 AM »
On Friday, September 8, we begin the process of changing our hosting servers! This has actually been in the works behind the scenes for some time now, with most of the setup work being taken care of by Skhilled and tomorrow marks the time when the site will actually be changed over from the old hosting and servers that we've had with G.C. Solutions for some years now.

This new hosting and server package will be on Steve's servers and this will give us a great deal more control and flexibility, plus a little more space should we ever have need for that.

We don't expect to have problems, but things like this move can sometimes get a little dicey, so if issues do arise we'll fix things as quickly as possible.
More detail will be posted as it develops.

The servers have been changed. There are a few errors cropping up, mostly because of the change from MySQL to Maria databases. But no problems posting, etc.

Nice job Steve.  I see you're now running on php 7, so I would recommend updating Tinyportal to TP 1.3R which should hopefully be compatible.  https://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=35891.msg290001#msg290001

Upgraded to TP 1.3R but still getting this error each time you visit the forum page:

I'm just now able to access the forum in it's current, up to date state... it was showing me a version from several hours ago until now.  :o

Yes can be a bit frustrating waiting for the dns to propagate, and other people being able to access your own website before you can.

I forgot about all about propagation. LOL

Ken, don't forget that you can always change PHP versions on-the-fly in cPanel using the MultiPHP Selector if PHP7 causes too many problems. Just change it back to PHP 5.6. ;)

I'm not to sure about (me) changing things like the php version in use.  :o
And, besides, it looks like things are finally returning to normal for me.

It's just like flipping a switch. Checkmark your domain and then choose the PHP version you wish to use and click "Apply". If you have multiple domains you can chose as many as you'd like...each one can use a different version of PHP! The page will instantly reload and it's done! You can switch back and forth as many times as you like with no problems...other than seeing the PHP bugs associated with PHP 7 for SMF and it's mods.

For cpanel:

https://ourfamilyforum.org:2083/

Use the username I showed you and the pass you selected. ;)

Look in cpanel for the main FTP which uses the same password. For security purposes, you should never use the main FTP account...in case it gets hacked. Create a new one and use that one instead. ;)

Got it.

Also, the Coppermine link has been removed from the navigation bar.
