It's currently 26° which is warm as far as the rest of the week went. We were in the single digits since last weekend!

Apple Reportedly Set To Announce End Of iTunes
« on: June 01, 2019, 06:39:06 PM »
I've spent a lot of money buying songs from them. They'd better be able to be played on the new app or reimburse me!

An unfortunate development for all the folks who use iTunes. I've never used the service, but according to Google there are nearly 800 million iTunes accounts and that makes it curious as to why they would close up something so widely used. Surely it must be making a profit?

Here's what's going to happen in the link below. They are killing iTunes which is a pay-per-song or album service for a monthly subscription streaming service. Imo, they will lose a lot of customers and force other services to replace them. The do repeat that you will not lose the songs you've already purchased, etc.

The article makes it sound not so bad, from the perspective of someone who is not using the service of course.

Yes, but I've read a few other articles and they basically say the same.

I hope that it works out well for the existing users... it is always worrisome when a company comes out with a 'new and improved' version of an existing service because quite often their customer base suffers from the process.

Yup! I'd rather pay per song/album. Then I can buy at will, if I choose. On the other hand if they allow downloading (not sure about that, more for streaming from what I've been reading) then I'd probably do it for a few months and get all of the songs I've wanted.

I don't really know very much about the service but will say that as a general point of view I've never been a big fan of 'renting' an online product, meaning that if it's a pay for play kind of thing, like a song, then I want to be able to download that content to my computer and save it. A very good example to illustrate my point is YouTube videos because even though they are free I prefer to download any video that seems interesting and watch it offline.

And yes, the lines can get kind of blurry sometimes, but I've always been a bit out of focus.  laughing7

LOL, Yeah, I'm the same way but don't download videos because of their size and heck, they are still free although they are trying to make it a streaming paid service. :(
