I saw this in the latest email of The Daily Scam. It's about how companies try to bait/trick you into spending more money, buying things you don't want, making it too hard to cancel a subscription, etc.

Because they are either stupid or greedy or have something to hide, unfortunately...

However, the Dark Patterns bit has got me thinking a lot...
